Cathal Ó Curráin

Seineann Cathal Ó Curráin an iliomad uirlisí. Is as Gaoth Dobhair i nDún na nGall dó. Tá suim faoi leith aige sa cheol traidisiúnta ar an mbanjo, bouzouki, fidil agus amhráin. Ó aois óg, tumadh Cathal sa cheol, ag freastal ar sheisiúin rialta i dTeach Hiúdaí Beag le leithéidí Máiréad agus Ciarán Ó Maonaigh. D’fhoghlaim Cathal a chuid amhráin óna aintín Bríd Joe Jack. Tá an domhan mór siúlta ag Cathal lena chuid ceoil ag seinm le bannaí ceoil, ó Meiriceá go dtí an Astráil. Tá sé le clois ar albaim le déanaí leis na High Seas, The Friel Sisters, Bláth na nÓige, Aoife Scott agus a albam féin Cosán Ceoil a seoladh i 2022.

Cathal Ó Curráin is a multi-instrumentalist from Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal, who specialises in Irish Traditional and Folk Music on fiddle, banjo, bouzouki and song. From an early age Cathal was immersed in music from attending regular sessions in Teach Hiúdaí Beag with the likes of Mairéad and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh. Hailing from a family that are best known for their singing Cathal learned his songs from his aunties Caitlín and Bríd Joe Jack. Performing from a young age Cathal has travelled the world with different bands to America, Australia, New Zealand and all throughout Europe. His most recent work features on albums with The High Seas, The Friel Sisters, Bláth na hÓige, Aoife Scott with Ron Block of Alison Krauss and Union Station and his debut solo album Cosán Ceoil was launched in 2022.
